Capital Campaign

For nearly 60 years, the Woodruff Arts Center has proudly been a place for every person to experience the power of the arts. We have a responsibility to ensure that the Arts Center is well-positioned for a bright future marked by growth, inclusivity, and even greater artistic and educational impact. Ambitious and unprecedented, this $67 million capital campaign will bring new life to our campus, expand access to our proven educational programming, and secure our place as Atlanta’s center for the arts. It’s time to reintroduce the Woodruff Arts Center and invite our community—and the world—to Experience Atlanta, Experience Woodruff.

For a limited time, purchase a commemorative brick paver and leave a lasting mark on the Arts Center’s campus. Your personalized brick will become part of a beautiful walkway outside the Memorial Arts Building’s Peachtree Street entrance, paving the way for future generations to see the names and sentiments of those who believed and invested in the enduring power of the arts. Click here or visit woodruffcenter.org/pave-the-way to purchase yours today!

Imagine … an open city center beaming with festivals, art-making activities, installations, performances, and concerts curated by our world-class Art Partners—right on Peachtree Street. That is what we envision for the Woodruff Arts Center’s next 60 years. We’ll start by reimagining two new spaces:

Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families

This transformative space will feature programming for our youngest patrons curated by the Alliance Theatre and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. With sophisticated streaming technology, we’ll share our educational content world-wide, breaking geographic barriers to the arts.

PNC
PlaySpace

Open six days a week, this experiential learning center will offer hands-on engagement opportunities for children ages birth to five at no cost to families. Here, children can enjoy free play, interactive performances, and the chance to create, move, and make believe.

CAMPUS ENHANCEMENTS

Not only are we growing access to family programming—with more pathways, lighting, signage, and dynamic outdoor spaces, we are fostering a more inclusive and accessible community space that invites patrons from all walks of life to spend more time with us and experience the arts in new and personal ways. Investing in our infrastructure and Building and Grounds Endowment will ensure our facilities mirror the quality of the art on campus long into the future.

Why It Matters

We know that children who have access to the arts are:

more likely to graduate college
0 x
more likely to win an award for school attendance
0 x
more likely to participate in math or science fairs
0 x
more likely to be recognized for academic achievement
0 x

We’re building so much more than a stage. We’re building hope for children in our community and beyond. In 2021, the U.S. Surgeon General issued a warning that young people are facing an unprecedented mental health crisis, reporting persistent feelings of sadness, loneliness, and hopelessness. We know that access to the arts can change that course. When kids are given the space to explore freely and tell their story through performances, music, painting, they feel more connected and less alone. When they see stories and people who look like them across stages, they feel more hopeful for a brighter future.

That’s what we’re building.

Multiple studies conducted by the Alliance Theatre, with support from the U.S. Department of Education, have demonstrated that participation in early childhood arts education programs lead to higher standardized test scores, improved writing skills, and enhanced literacy comprehension.

Your gift ensures the Woodruff Arts Center remains a place to explore, to learn, to dream—a place for everyone to experience the magic of the arts. To get started, contact Kristin Hathaway Hansen at kristin.hathaway-hansen@woodruffcenter.org or 404.733.4115.
